100% right, it’s not a snap of the fingers but people should seriously consider what he’s saying. He’s not doing this off of a snap decision and he’s not doing it for his own personal gain. He’s endorsing Biden because he thinks it’s best for the country and it’s our chance to TRY and bring some progressive elements into the platform. It’s easy to be pissed off about Biden, I’m not going try and convince you he’s a great candidate, but we might not have another chance at an election as fair as this one (and this one won’t be totally fair) for a long time. The repubs want an authoritarian government. If you think there’s going to be some kind of revolution in the streets you haven’t been paying attention and you’re not aware of what country you live in. IT AIN’T HAPPENING.

All that said, vote for who you want to, It’s up to you, but carefully consider the consequences and be honest about where we are as a country

I am voting my conscious and trusting Bernie that he knows what he's doing.

He is aware of something that some people on this sub forget. That is, if Trump wins this year then he will STACK the COURTS for 4 more years.

Do you understand what that means? That means the next president, even if they are a Super Bernie or the ultimate progressive of our time, they won't be able to do jack shit.

It won't matter if every member of Congress or the Senate is progressive with a progressive President. They will be blocked by the courts for decades.

Think about that and the long term consequences of your choices. If you really have progressive ideals then you need to turn them into actionable goals and to achieve those goals, you need the courts on your side too.

Edit: Apparently some people don't know how federal judges are appointed. Please read up on how this process works before coming in to say "nah that won't happen." Ignorance is not how progress is made.

Edit2: We need to collectively not be so shortsighted about elections. The courts are the LONGEST appointments by design (even if it's a crappy design) and Right-Wingers are using the courts to their advantage for long-term gain. All progressives need to unite and take a long-term view of the situation, which critically involves preventing a conservative take-over of the Federal courts. The courts are equally if not more important than the legislature or the executive branch in the long run and we would be wise to remember that.

Edit3: To re-iterate, victory and progress is not made with big sweeping solutions like voting 3rd party. Victory takes time and effort and there will be set-backs, such as losing Bernie in the primaries this year. We can't let one set back make us panic and start to vote 3rd party like a bunch of frightened mice running away at the first sign of trouble. Progress takes brutal effort and sacrifice and preventing a fascist like Trump from winning this year is a necessary step to seeing real progress within our lifetimes. Imagine what future generations will say when they have to deal with Kavanaugh 2.0 when the next SCOTUS appointment comes up. They will resent us for allowing literally evil lifetime appointments to take root in multiple Federal Courts all around the country. By voting 3rd party, you are assisting the fascist strategy of blocking progress at every government level from local, to state, to federal. Of course we feel trapped in a Sophie's Choice, but instead of panicking we need to be brave and grit our teeth for the challenges to come so that in the next 4 years, we can see real progress and relax our jaw.

Please vote as we don't just vote on POTUS but also down ballot candidates as well. Like your local judge or sherif. You can skip voting for president if you want but don't let your local government go to shit just because we hate Biden. Please vote.
