Working with animal shelters I will tell you this: They DEFINITELY mentioned the cause to be passive aggressive. Our local shelter does the same. Any idiotic reason people give to return animals gets blasted (no names mentioned).
I went to a household mandatory week long jesus camp that my mother sent me and my siblings to. When I came back, my puppy who I saved 8 years worth of new years money for was given away. I wasn't even allowed time to react. My mother told me it was ridiculous for me to even think about being upset or insinuating that she did something unethical. After all she birthed me and she's my mother. She then grilled me, making me repeat a few times that I loved her more than the puppy.
That was it, that was her whole argument. I wasn't allowed to cry about it until I was alone.
