I just had to go 60 miles, in horror traffic, for a meeting at our HQ. It lasted 15 mins and was just a confirmation of everything that we had done. A confirmation of everything that we sent in emails. Didn't have to sign anything, didn't have to do anything, just had to say "yes, it's all in the emails." 8 people's day just wasted. I'm still livid.
I cancelled a very non-essential meeting with a colleague in a major city near me (don’t want to be anywhere near mass public transport rn). She had requested it, and I initially agreed a month ago then cancelled it last week.
She was annoyed, okay fair enough, and I suggested a call instead.
The original plan was for me to travel to her for almost 2 hours, to meet at her convenience, right at the end of the working day, meet for an hour then I’d travel 2 hours home again.
The phone call we had instead lasted ELEVEN MINUTES. Then she goes ‘well that’s all I had’ and hung up.
ETA: yes, she is classic boomer age. I’m sure she’s a nice person, she just felt very entitled to my time for, as it turns out, no real reason at all.

The other nice thing about working at home.
