It's sad when old neighbors just drift apart.

Edit : what struck me was the distance between Austria and Northern Italy. Imagine the crunching of plates it needed to form the Alps. Apologies if this is already commented upon.

Edit: I believe the documentary was “How the Earth was Made”. History Channel about 10 years ago, but I will double check.

I saw a documentary about how New York and Scotland shared the same exact ancient rocks and other similarities and that they were next to each other at some point, but this shows it was separated by Greenland. Interesting.
