The top White House official responsible for leading the U.S. response in the event of a deadly pandemic has left the administration, and the global health security team he oversaw has been disbanded under a reorganization by national security adviser John Bolton.
This reminds of response of FEMA to Hurricane Katrina. Before 9/11 FEMA operated autonomously and was notable for its ability to mobilize diaster response. After 9/11 Bush admin puts FEMA under Homeland Security and every decision has gatekeepers and political decisions attached. Katrina response was haphazard at best and murderous at its worst. Thousands of trailers as temporary housing were mold ridden and unlivable. Cost cutting measures in govt cost lives,not budgets,cause some contractors always pocket the difference .A few bucks out of the budget,here comes your next pandemic.
