When my niece was 8 or so, she asked “can we get a cat when dad dies?” Fun story.

When I was a kid, I was out with my mum and we saw a stray cat. I asked if we could keep it, and she said no, because my dad is allergic. My response? “Dad can come home when the cat dies.”
She never let me live it down.
