Burglars love stupid gun owners that don’t keep their guns locked in a safe, because guns are small, highly portable, expensive, and easy to fence on the black market. They’re just about the ideal thing to steal. And burglars try really hard to break in when you’re not home. They want to steal things, not get in fight, get hurt, and get arrested.
