There are few things in modern life that fill us with dread more than the thought of having our hair cut by yet another new hairdresser. Filled with trepidation, we sit in the chair waiting to see whether we're in the hands of a capable cutter or a blundering butcher. Far better to find one man who delivers and stick with him religiously – which is exactly what Sam Farr, 71, from Bristol, has done over the past 42 years. Mr Farr first had his hair cut by Joe Pace, who now owns Giuseppe's in Bath, Somerset, back in the early 70s. In 1973, he took a picture of the experience – a process that he has repeated every decade since. As you can see, while Mr Farr and Mr Pace have grown greyer and perhaps a little broader over the years, their close bond has not at all diminished.
