Got into a discussion with a coworker about this. She said she hated (large, multicultural city) because it wasnt diverse enough and wanted to move back to (larger city). She said there are "too many boring white people and I should feel bad for not hanging out with more people from other countries and cultures" my counter argument was that you shouldn't punish people for living where they are from, and not going to hanging out with co workers because they aren't of a certain culture is an awful shallow way of seeing people. I said everyone has something to offer but she wasnt hearing it. She kept saying she could get together with people from so many other countries all at once in the larger city she came from. Here's where it gets ridiculous; we worked at a large hotel with 750 employees, and the front of the house at any given time had at least 3 people who were internationals. We could literally have an entire shift to cover front desk, bell hop, and concierge with front desk management (10 people team to run a standard barebones shift) that all spoke different languages... so it's not like she worked at some super white place that you couldn't find anyone of any other race, back of house staff was even far more diverse. Literally the hotel was maybe 20% white american. I asked her if she felt it was racist to say she didnt want to hang out with white people and only people of color from other countries and she said "no, I just dont think white people are interesting enough to be my friends".

Cool. I'm done here.

I don’t have this problem because I don’t get invited to parties. Check MATE.
