Half of men in my family died in this damned war...Every great-grandfather that i have was a soldier then, and couple of younger great-great-grandfathers too. It wasn't uncommon for fathers, sons and brothers to serve shoulder to shoulder and then perish in the one same charge. Sometimes i'm bothered by the thoughts that we're not worth enough of them, that we should have done so much more for this country since then, simply because of the sanctity of their collective sacrifice.
