My printer loves putting ink on paper so much that half the time it will just keep the paper in its tummy and I get to rip it out.

The secret is buying a laser jet printer. Yes, a laser jet for your home printer. You pay more up front, but if you print things rarely, it's the only sensible option.
Edit: Damn you marketers. Now excuse me, I need a kleenex.
