Sony took out a load of patents relating to it and Microsoft have spent this gen abstracting backwards compatibility from specific hardware... So we might be in luck!
Xbox has said all Xbox one games and currently backwards compatible Xbox 360, and Xbox games will play with the New Xbox. Sony has only have said that Ps4 games with be Backwards compatible with the Ps5.
