How Dr. Hutchinson Got her Hook Dr. Hutchinson ( who later married Filburt and mothered his children) was
a character created as a result of a press conference. I was asked by a reporter why there were no positive female role models on Rocko.
"Well" I said "There are no positive male role models either". But I couldn't dodge
it that easily. Later, one of the female executives from Nickelodeon
said that we must have a strong female character in the show, for the sake
of woman. I asked her what kind of character she had in mind? She said;
"You know, a professional woman, someone with
a good hook". Now, I knew she was using a term that is used in
entertainment about a "hook" being a personality trait
that "hooks" the viewers. But, out of sheer defiance,
I created (I believe with the help of Doug Lawrence)
Dr. Hutchinson, and gave her... well..... a hook. Even though her birth may have been shrouded
in odd intentions, I , and the directors, grew to
love her, and the show where she marries
Filburt is one of my all time favorites. 'Kay?

Dr Hutchinson recommends removing the little lightning bolts and replacing them with blue wavy lines.

Joe Murray really put his heart into the show. The character of Ralph Bighead was originally based on him as his father wasn’t fond of him becoming a cartoonist

I liked that one of her and Filbert’s babies came out with a hook too
