I was in a roll over collision in my Jeep when I was 17. Let me tell you, those bruises hurt real bad. It hurts to breathe... but you are breathing. I walked away from an accident that should have killed me, and it’s because of a seat belt!

Ironically this is why some idiots refuse to wear seat belts - they interpret stories/pictures like this as "seat belts cause injuries and ugly bruises".

This is part of a series of photographs done by the New Zealand Transport Agency to promote wearing a seatbelt.There's 10 survivors in the set, and while the photos are actually makeup, they are in fact actual car crash survivors with their injuries reconstructed with close medical guidance to faithfully reproduce what they sustained.
