Pensacola, Florida: A Florida man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for knowingly spreading HIV.

The Pensacola News Journal reports that 27-year-old Rasheem Ikey Bodiford was sentenced Friday. He was previously convicted of having sex with another person without notifying them that he had HIV, the virus that leads to AIDS.

Prosecutors say Bodiford had sex with two women from September 2016 to October 2017 and lied about his condition.

One woman told Escambia County deputies in 2017 that she had tested positive for HIV and her last sexual partner had been Bodiford. She said she had seen Bodiford in possession of HIV medication, and he told her he was selling it for his uncle.

Dudes, true story. For 25 years i worked as an addiction counselor. During my internship in the 80's, I had a patient who was HIV positive that disclosed to me that he was on a mission to infect as many people as possible. It was made clear to me at that time by my supervisor, due to the laws in place at that time, that I could NOT disclose this to anyone. It was a moral conundrum. He has since died and I have no idea the degree to which he carried out his "goal".

10 years seems too little. And also does very little to prevent him from forcing this disease on people again.

My brother died in the mid 90's because of a piece of shit who did this.

I think before the guy died he had infected several dozen other people just out of pure spite, at a time when it was a guaranteed death sentence.

People suck

Edit

My brother was not gay, he contracted it from a needle.

Yes, do not share needles, but people who choose to do heroin are not always the best for making sound judgement calls.

Edit # 2

This edit is for those special cases who are trying to call me out for homophobia, or whatever the fuck you are on about.

I pointed out my brother was not gay simply because a discussion was ongoing below about the transmission rates of HIV among the homosexual community, I simply wanted to point out that it was not relevant since he contracted it from a needle.
