If you’re going to die an early death, then the way Tony went out is probably the best possible way. Imagine how satisfying it would be to look your mortal enemy right in the eye, as he was about to murder every person on the entire planet, and tell him to fuck off while then immediately saving the entire planet and ending that apocalyptic threat that’s been haunting you for years.
Edit: Yes, I should have clarified to that he was going to murder every living organism in the entire universe, not just Earth. So makes Tony’s sacrifice infinitely more heroic.

I believe Tony was thinking of Morgan and Pepper in this scene. That is why his face reflects pain and struggle along with determination.
However, Natasha's face seems to reflect a slight sense of contentment. As if she is finally able to redeem herself... That she was meant for this.
