One time at dollar general, I saw these kids trying to buy some toys and I said I would give them both a dollar (felt bad for them because they didn’t have enough) and continued my shopping and I heard the mom say, “go ask her for more money! She’s probably still in the store!” (I was 12 at the time and I had 10 dollars on me and gave them each 1 dollar so that meant I got less snacks for the week but whatever I was trying to be nice) these poor little kids came back up to me as I was leaving the store and was like, can we have more (they seemed very embarrassed) and I was like nah
I was once at the grocery store using the self-checkout, and when I went to pay I noticed I couldn't find my wallet in my purse. I looked and looked and had no idea. Panic set in, because 1) where is my wallet and 2) I have just scanned everything myself and now I need to put it on hold somehow. I was tearing up a bit, but I hit the "help" button so someone could come cancel out and I could explain the issue (I was hoping to just go home, find the wallet, come right back).
Some lady saw me I guess, and said "I got it!" and ran her card. I was SHOCKED. I told her she didn't have to, I had the money, just not the wallet, and I was going to get it. She refused. I asked for her number, again I had the money, but she just kept refusing. I was soooo happy and thankful. It was like, $100 worth of stuff and she just upped and paid it all.
Weeks later I saw someone who was asking the cashier to take something off because she didn't have enough that day to cover it - I took care of her and was finally able to pay it forward. Hopefully that chain is still going on today.
