Police are believed to be investigating how a dead body ended up in Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny’s house in Egypt.

Mohamed Elneny has been an Egypt international since 2011Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport write that Elneny’s dad, who made the horrible discovery, immediately called the police.

Website 24.ae, meanwhile, claim the body was found ‘in the patio’ at the home.

The house, close to the city of Mahalla Al-Kubra, is currently under construction and police are yet to formally identify the deceased, while it is still unclear whether this was an accident or if it was a criminal act.

The news comes less than a week after the player’s team-mates, Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were the victims of an attempted robbery as knife-wielding thugs attacked them in their car in London.

It is thought the thugs were trying to steal their expensive watches, but Kolasinac managed to fight them off and the pair headed to a nearby restaurant for help.

Elneny was missing from Arsenal’s Emirates Cup squad that played Lyon on Sunday afternoon, as the Gunners lost the pre-season friendly 2-1.

The midfielder joined the club from Basel three years ago and the Egypt international has played 46 Premier League games since.
