Ooh something I actually know about! These are really cool! But understandably kind of creepy to a lot of people. If anyone was wondering they are commonly referred to as 'foal slippers'. They are soft tissue on the ends of the foal's hooves to protect the dam's uterus in pregnancy and the birth canal during birth since hooves can be pretty sharp. They quickly dry up and fall off by the time the foal stands and walks which should be around an hour after birth. It's actually pretty difficult to see them in real life since mares like to hold off foaling until no one is around and the slippers fall off so quickly, but cool to keep an eye out for if you are able to watch a foal being born! :) Edit: Forgot words
