Will it grow with her or will she have to have another surgery to replace it as an adult?

I get the colloquial use of the word brave, but wouldn’t it be funny if she was the biggest coward in the world? My youngest sister has Golden Har syndrome, with cleft lip and palette(no left ear, left lung, or left...face) her face is very...different and we joke about this same thing too. Her jaw came from ribs as well

Oral surgeon here. There is clearly a lower jaw present on the “before” CT reconstruction, although it is severely malformed and small. This type of rib grafting is used because if it is done correctly, it can have a cartilage cap that mimics a normal mandibular condyle. The hope is that it will grow at the same pace as a normal jaw would but it is very difficult to predict, and almost always if it is done on both sides, one side will grow faster than another causing significant mandibular assymetry. This is usually corrected at the end of normal jaw growth with orthognathic surgery.
