If anyone lives near a native community and has a chance to check out a Pow-wow, definitely check it out (just check if it's open to the public; all the ones in my area have prominent "all are welcome" messaging but some Nations have private events for members only).
You will see some wicked drumming and dancing, there's typically a lot of good food, and you'll get to know your neighbors and experience a bit of a different culture. And in terms of atmosphere, it's a very happy, welcoming affair in my experience.
