There seems to be one in almost every room and every ball through the clear plastic is green. They don't move at all. The white wire or "stick" is a different color in each room. They are only on the lower floor in the living/kitchen area, storage room under the stairs, hallway, utility room, and one bedroom.
I think there's something on the other end that would push the plunger up, which would cause the green ball to show up in the sight glass as an indicator. The series of white balls is there just to facilitate making the 90 degree bend. What's on the other end I have no damn idea!
