As someone who works in schools, I see this all too often. Boys are more likely to be referred to special education, more likely to be suspended, more likely to be arrested at school, etc. All things leading to, unfortunately, what we in education have coined as the school to prison pipeline. It’s targeting boys of color more than any other group.

Big 'ol feminist here. I agree. Forever.

I've been a feminist since I was a girl in the 90's. All I've ever wanted for girls and women was for them to be respected and given the same opportunities as men. There is nothing wrong with wanting men to do well, too. Everyone should be given the chance to do well.

We need to lift each other up when the other one falls.

Actually I could use some men input. So I’ve been working with this issue in my suburban middle school class. I’ve noticed boys develop self-advocacy skills much much slower than girls.

I was wondering if there is a social/societal component to this. Because I don’t think there is anything biologically happening here.
