Holocaust shadowbox. My great grandfather took a souvenir from every Nazi he killed and made this display with the items. It even includes a piece of Hitler’s carpet.
Amateur WWII historian here... and grandson of Omaha Beach and Bulge veteran. I am pretty sure that purple cross with the gold emblem with Swastika in the middle was given to mothers of fallen soldiers. Is your great grandfather still alive? Would love to know how he came across that one.

Was he in the 42nd Rainbow Division? My grandfather was a sergeant with them, too.
