President Xi congratulates Kim Jong Un on reelection

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday congratulated the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un on his re-election as the chairman of the country's State Affairs Commission.

"Your re-election shows how much support and trust the party and the people of the DPRK have put in you," President Xi told Kim in a phone conversation. The Chinese president also delivered his wish of seeing more achievements made in the DPRK in the years to come.

"Fruitful results have continued to be made in the DPRK's economic and social development. The cause of socialism of the DPRK has also entered a new historical era," President Xi said.

President Xi also spoke highly of the traditional friendship between Beijing and Pyongyang, mentioning the four meetings between Kim and himself since last year. Xi also vowed to further push forward bilateral ties to better benefit people from both sides.

He was winning by 403% with only 20% of the ballots counted. His opponent, Not Not Kim, stated he would not concede regardless of the results.
