I didn't know that. Years ago I worked at a golf course and we sprayed everything with a neonicotinoid named imidacloprid. Thats bad.

We buy milkweed to support monarch butterflies. We have to make sure they’re sourced from responsible, pesticide free nurseries or it just winds up killing them.

I found two sources that that say that the claim is debatable. One from Cornell and another from Texas A&M.
I would still avoid them due to demonstrated the ill-effect on Bumblebees.
