I remember I used to play this top down online shooter I think it was by Sony.
You could buy "GG" grenades which were like the most expensive item in the game. "pros" would toss them at you while they killed you, they did no damage just blew up and said "gg"

And when you are playing league of legends and the enemy teams feeder end up being carried with 0/23/1 and says GG EZ when they win

I say "gg" when the game felt competitive and there was a good amount of chance to win on both teams
