After the Iron Curtain fell and Russian voters started electing authoritarians I figured it was a cultural thing, and the U.S. was different due to the conditions of its founding. Unfortunately, it appears that too many people in the U.S. (not a majority, but too many) are also comforted by authoritarian figures, and will choose them over truth and freedom.
