The conflict referenced, the Nigerian Civil War, is particularly fun because everyone except the United States and the Soviet Union ended up looking like shit:
The United States: was largely neutral, and only sought to protect its investments in Nigeria proper.
The Soviet Union: very pro-Nigerian, sold them some planes.
Britain: 100% supporting the Nigerian government to keep control of its oil. Once the conflict began being cast as a genocide against the Biafren people, Britain secretly allowed British Petroleum to keep funding/helping the Nigerian government.
France: wanted oil and totally forgot colonial wars were out of fashion. Hoped the Biafren independence movement would be successful so French companies could seize the oil wells the British would be forced to abandon.
Israel: Initially supported Nigeria, providing money and guns. Continued to do so secretly after their legislature decided to support the Biafren independence movement because of the publicity of the ongoing genocide. Which means late in the conflict Israel was selling guns to both sides.
