Man whose wife has cancer gets help to pay bills by winning $100K lottery prize

Michael Harlow, of Stanley, North Carolina, recently won a scratch-off lottery game and changed some plans.

“My wife is battling breast cancer right now,” he said. “And having something to look forward to will help her get through the chemo treatments.

“I’ve already called the Carnival Cruise Line and upgraded our rooms to the biggest we can get.”

The Marine veteran claimed a $100,000 prize on Dec. 16, taking home more than $70,000, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

The security guard, whose wife has been undergoing chemotherapy, will use the money primarily to pay bills, WJZY-TV reported.

“I think most people didn’t think we’d last,” Harlow said. “We met 33 years ago and have been together ever since.”

So many "uplifting stories" these days are actually insanely depressing. This shooting victim's funeral was paid by a GoFundMe! This lady's generous co-workers volunteered their vacation days so she wouldn't get fired for taking too many days off for cancer treatment! See how this millennial paid off his student loan in only two years (Sidenote: He was independently wealthy and had his living expenses paid for before he even started.)!

It's hard to tell if the reporters of these stories are that dense or if they know nobody will read a legitimate news story these days so they are forced to disguise it as mindless pap to share on Facebook.

Either way, these uplifting stories are getting closer to me buying a yellow vest.

Fuck me, thought I was in Uplifting News for a second there with this sugar coated dystopian headline.
