Gold storage is an odd business. During the 20th century, the Bank of England stored a large amount of gold for other countries. If one country needed to pay another, the banker would walk into the vault, load up a trolley, roll it across the room to the receiving country's pile and unload it.

One row of that pile is $160 million. A stack on that row is roughly $21 million. One bar is about $450k.
