Former Mexican President Vicente Fox on Saturday condemned the death of a 7-year-old migrant girl who died after being taken into U.S. Border Patrol custody, saying that "this is not what the U.S. is all about."

Fox said in an interview with TMZ that the news regarding a young Guatemalan migrant girl's death was "very sad."

"And it’s not the only case. There’s plenty more. This is not what U.S. is all about. This is what Trump is all about," Fox, a frequent critic of the president, said.

Fox, who served as president of Mexico between 2000 and 2006, added that "[Trump] doesn’t have any love or care or compassion to anybody."

"I don’t know why this nation has a president like him. We all miss the United States that [we've] known for years and years," he continued. "The Leader in the world… a nation that cares and builds a better world. So I hope you get rid of Trump soon."

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) inspector general announced Friday that it would launch an investigation into the circumstances revolving around the 7-year-old's death.

The Trump administration has said that the girl died from dehydration and shock while in U.S. custody.

The girl had crossed the southern border last week with her father and a group of other migrants. She was taken into custody by Border Patrol in New Mexico, and reportedly began having seizures eight hours after being detained. She was flown to a hospital in El Paso, Texas.

But she died less than 24 hours later.

Fox later criticized Trump's "language" as it relates to immigration.

"Speaking the way Trump speaks is not good for this nation," he said, before calling on the president to "change."

"And change soon, because you're not going to be [president] for long," Fox said.

That’s funny, because even the girl’s own father said government agents did everything they could and doesn’t blame Trump.

Rich coming from a guy who took cartel bribes, turning a blind eye to horrors done in his own country in the process.

Timeline - father and rest of the 160+ group group turn themselves into Border Patrol December 6 (so not exactly hot) about 10PM. Location not exactly near a city or similar (closest "town" - Antelope Wells, New Mexico - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antelope_Wells,_New_Mexico ; https://medium.com/@6502Rules/cycling-the-great-divide-day-one-antelope-wells-new-mexico-to-hachita-new-mexico-9a67f27d1aa8 - AKA more or less truly the middle of nowhere, with as per Wikipedia, a port of entry building, two houses and a trailer).

Takes some time to arrange transport to a place to process the group/transport them (tp Lordsburg Border Patrol Station - which seems to be in literally be closest US 500+ person town to Antelope Wells - https://www.google.com/maps/search/antelope+wells+Lordsburg/@31.8519181,-109.18049,9z/data=!3m1!4b1 ).

Only one bus available, so multiple trips (95 miles each way). Kid and father go to board the bus sometime around 4AM and father tells an agent that his kid is sick. Presumably no doctors on site but the agents know there is care where they are going.

Father reports girl has vomited at around 5AM while on bus. Agents continue to location and call ahead to the destination for a doctor.

Seen by EMS at destination 6:30AM (has a 105.7 and EMS tries to help her). EMS contacts Hidalgo County Emergency Medical Services who were on the scene within minutes and decided to airlift the girl to the Providence Children's Hospital in El Paso, Texas. Chopper arrives at location and takes off by 7:45AM.
