My read is Trump is the dog that caught the car, neither he or the Russians thought he could pull it off. Trump even screamed “You're stealing my f*cking money!" when he was forced to create a transition committee.
Trump was a criminal all his life, who did billions of dollars of damage and ruined thousands of lives. And there are hundreds if not thousands of rich criminals like him in the US alone. Maybe not as flamboyant and garish and stupid as him, but just as greedy, cruel, destructive, callous and entitled as him. And those few thousand rich criminals do more damage to society than almost all of the 2million people in American prisons combined.
And the sad thing is, they are all completely safe and have nothing to fear. Even the stupidest of them can flaunt his criminality on national television for decades. He can become a traitor and the greatest national security threat since nuclear missiles on Cuba, everyone knows it, and it still takes years to do anything about it. And at the same time a poor person can start a chain reaction that completely fucks over their family for generations for not being able to pay a bank fee or something like that.
