This is the first time I've seen a photograph of Kings Canyon on this one. Yosemite post everyday, but people seem to forget how beautiful this place is too
51 years ago I (66F) moved from mountainous Oahu to the flat San Joaquin Valley (west of the Sierra Nevada) at age 15 when my father retired from the Navy. Lived there 4 months before it rained and cleared the dust from the air. For the first time, I saw those incredible mountains. I finished high school and went to college at UC Santa Cruz, where I was lucky enough to get into a course called Natural History of California. We went on seven camping field trips throughout the state. It was limited enrollment and you had to interview to get into the course. I was one of two non science students to make it. I learned to bird watch, which became a life long passion. Just dumb luck that I got in. Unforgettable memories. Thanks for the picture.
