Just assume every company has been breached and your data isn't safe with any of them.

I work for a company that has not experienced a data breach. BUT ... I know we would have to weigh the consequences of such an announcement. Many factors to consider.

How did it happen?

Did we allow it or was a force beyond our control at play? (Did we have a sec. vulnerability or were we broken into by someone w mad skillz)

Who was impacted?

Things like that determine how fast a company will announce such an event.
