Dying shrub to dyed shrub

I did this. Had to take out some dead junipers, I think they were, and planted some mugo pines the nursery said would be perfect. Nope. Died, so next year tried cutting out some branches on a spruce tree in front of them that i figured was blocking the light and got three more mugo pines. I was wrong about the light, I guess, cause they died too, but I was moving and didn't care any more. So I sprayed 'em green. Happened to go by them a year later. They still looked fine. From a distance anyway. I don't know if the new people even figured it out.
