Yes they make more money then one would think. I used to be a case worker for the homeless. I had several clients who made more then me in a week. The problem they had was addiction. I had one who would make about $20 to $30 an hour panhandling. 2, 3 hours of panhandling and they have enough for their daily addiction cost. Kind of sad

I remember reading an interview with a man quite a few years ago that wrote a book on begging. He bragged that he was easily pulling in 6 figures a year in California. He had it down to a science. He would drive a brand new car to a safe area then depending on the time of day and day of the week he would sit outside various places looking disheveled holding a sign with a little sob story on it. Sundays he would always be outside of a church as it was getting out. He even had places where he would go on military paydays in areas with plenty of military families going shopping. Toward the end of the article he stated that his wife was going to be receiving a new BMW paid in full by peoples donations. I got so mad at this article. It has always left me with a feeling like I'm being scammed.
