I always just felt bad for Karen. She was such an obvious third-wheel character whose existence was mostly designed to act as foil for Jim and Pam's relationship. I thought she had potential to be really funny, if the tone hadn't gotten so serious for the romance angle.

I always felt Karen was an under developed character but they also made her pretty unlivable in a way.
If Jim has started dating Ann Perkins I would have cheered for that team all day.
