Bonus pic = goat! You're almost guaranteed to see a goat if you hike through The Enchantments
Got back yesterday from an amazing backpacking trip into the core area of Washington’s amazing Enchantments. We got amazing light/weather conditions that ranged from t-shirt appropriate to snowy white out. This shot was from our first morning after arriving. It was pretty hard to pull myself from my warm sleeping bag and as soon as I stood up I could feel every muscle used to climb up Aasgard pass the previous day. But those thoughts quickly faded as I could already see a slight glow on the horizon giving me hope of a great sunrise.
I had scouted the area a bit the day before and found an area I really loved. I shot most of the sunrise parked in that spot, but as soon as the sun started to pop up I realized the larch trees I was shooting weren’t going to light up. In panic mode, I grabbed my camera and started frantically running around trying to find a decent spot where the sunlight was hitting the trees. The light was moving quickly and I knew I would run out of time in only a matter of minutes. Keep in mind, this is no easy area to run around...it’s basically just a big pile of rocks. Finally, I scrambled down to this viewpoint and quickly started firing off shots. I knew I wouldn’t have time to set up my tripod so this was shot handheld which was risky, but I think it turned out sharp enough. Anyways, it was an amazing morning and I have so many more shots to work through!
Do all the photographers on reddit and Instagram live in The PacNW!? I can't scroll through here without seeing something from either Rainier, Diablo/Ross lake, the Enchantments, Alpine lakes, Olympics or North Cascades.
