My grandfather at the end of WWII. Painted in Subic Bay, Philippines. Paid a local artist $10 and sat for about ten minutes for this portrait which he sent back to his parents.
My grandfather had something similar done on a silk scarf while he was serving in Korea! We recently found it when preparing for his funeral service (the man kept everything!). These are so fascinating! The artists that did these were super talented.
