What are the dates in the bills? My first thought is that you found someone’s stash from after the Great Depression when a great many people didn’t trust banks.
My wife’s grandparents hid cash all over the house they lived in. When he passed, wife’s brother was asked to canvas the house for stashes. They hid money all over - in the walls, under carpets, inside appliances .. they auctioned the house and we’re confident that whomever bought it is likely still finding stashes. I’m m told that’s what the Great Depression generation did.

He is just going to keep it and not try to trade it in. He is in the antique/junkin business so it’s just a cool find and story.
Edit: The serial numbers are not sequential.
