I left my husband on a platform in Tokyo. We got up the stairs and I saw the train was in and just hopped right on. I heard him call my name and turned around to see the door closed behind me and my mind just went blank. We didn't have phone service, I had a portable wifi hot-spot in my bag but he didn't. There was no way for us to contact each other. He didn't know where we were supposed to get off either. I was halfway to the next stop before my brain restarted and I realized I could just get off at the next platform and wait. Fortunately he had the same thought and we were only separated for about 6 minutes. But yeah, that's the story of how I abandoned my husband on a subway platform in a foreign country with no way to communicate with anyone.
