I work in the nuclear industry. We've considered the ages of our emergency responders for just this reason and roles are assigned accordingly. Volunteers, of course, and we have no shortage of those.
I work in an industry where there is still asbestos that hasn't completely been cleared up. About 6 months ago, I was working with a 70 year old guy who hadn't yet retired and although as many health and safety precautions as possible were put in place, he wouldn't let me anywhere near the stuff. Instead, he said he'd handle it since he'd be dead by the time it caused him any issues. It was nice of him not to subject an 18 year old to possibly a life of lung problems
