TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - 2,358 pets in the Tampa Bay area now have forever homes, thanks to a joint effort by 8 On Your Side and local shelters.

8 On Your Side teamed up with 23 local shelters for Clear The Shelters, a 2-week adoption drive. The last day of the adoption drive was today, Saturday, Aug. 18. It was an amazingly successful day with 854 adoptions happening in one day.

Participating shelters shared photos of families with their adopted pets on social media using the hashtag #ClearTheShelters. You can see some of the photos below.

8 On Your Side is one of hundreds of NBC stations across the country that took part in the Clear The Shelters nationwide pet adoption event. More than 150,000 pets have found forever homes since 2015.
