Tbf he is not really gatekeeping a tree. If I said that "If you cant lift 20kilos you are a weak human", I wouldnt be gatekeeping your humanity, you would still be a human, just a weak one.
If the guy had said "If you cant remove bark etc etc, that is not a tree" he would be gatekeeping.
