My father once said "Let's go to the Delaware river and go rafting!"

I said sure, some nice father-bonding in my early 20s, a good lazy Saturday. Hey pops, how long we gonna be there? Should we bring sunscreen?

"Nah it's ok"

6 hours of sun later and I was a burnt son. Peeled awfully on my legs/arms and gained some nice freckles on my arms that probably aren't cancer. Either way, last time I listened to him when going outside somewhere.

I am very very white by nature. I went to the beach for 1 hour. I said ‘it’s just one hour seriouslyy’. I didn’t use anything.

My chest got so burnt I had to go to the ER an get applied some real treatment for fire-burned people. The next week was the most horrible.

Oh and, enjoy the itching when the skin starts to heal BUT you can’t touch the wounds and scratch. It ruins your days

PSA: I’m one of those people who doesn’t get sunburn, but that does not mean I can’t get skin cancer.

If you never really get sunburn, you may actually be more at risk than people who do burn but protect themselves with sunscreen. Just a heads-up.
