I saw this posted about a month before my wife's brother's son was born and thinking I would do the same. However, the child was born hours before the end of the work day where we don't have a dress code and the hospital is a half mile away. So instead of driving home, quickly throwing on a tie and driving back I just went over wearing regular casual work clothes. At hardly a day old he must have noticed and remembered because currently at a year and a half he doesn't acknowledge me very often. My brother inlaw says it's because I made a poor first impression by dressing down.

He’s gonna be pretty disappointed when he finds out the person he’s meeting didn’t bother to dress up at all.
