Right now Mars is closer and brighter than it’s been since 2003. It’s so bright it’s casting a reflection on the ocean as it rises. Took this two nights ago in Rhode Island

Okay, so I saw this from the same location that you did. That's the bay, isn't it? My girlfriend didn't think it was anything special, but I swore it was Mars!

I need to show this to her.

About a week ago I got a similar (albeit way less detailed) picture of Venus:

I'd never seen it so bright it was reflecting on the water (Lake Ontario in this case.)
