My local mosque was right next to an industrial site and during ramadhan the people would donate food to the mosque for the breaking of the fast at 5.30pm
Unfortunately most people didn't attend to eat the food because they just got home from work. So the local Imam would actually invite the non-Muslim workers in the industrial area.
It was perfect timing because most of them just finished work and were starving. They had delicious food from different cultures like Malaysia, Turkey, Bosnia, Nigeria etc.
Anyhow last year the mosque accidentally caught on fire.
Guess who donated $100,000 to the rebuilding of the mosque? The 200 non-Muslim workers who used to eat there. This means roughly each of them gave $500.
In isla vista, california, theres an organization called Jesus Burgers, run by a local church group that hands out burgers and water to drunk college kids on friday nights. Similar deal.
