Pet Theory Time! I think that in an earlier draft of the script, it was Thor’s lightning that brought a nearly dead Tony Stark back to life in the finale (instead of Hulk roaring). This overcharge moment in the forest fight was to be foreshadowing for this, but in the end Joss decided Hulk roaring was funnier.

If you think about it, in the MCU, all of Tony’s upgrades were due to failures in previous iterations at some point.

Like the Mark XLVIII in IW with how the suit is stored might be because of how Tony only had the watch in Berlin during Civil War, it showed him he needed to always have it even during “peace”
